How do I take care of a stray kitten?

For the next 18 months, feed her the greatest quality kitten chow you can afford. Give her some wet food, too. The crucial thing is that she has constant access to food and fresh water.

Get some KMR (kitten milk replacer) or goat's milk if the kitten appears to be less than six weeks old and her eyes are just opening. Feed this to the kitten until she seems to be eight weeks old (measures around 6” from the tip of the snout to the base of the tail). The KMR can then be supplemented with some wet food. Increase the amount of moist food gradually. She'll be able to acclimate to the meal quickly and get enough nutrition.

Clay litter should never be used. If the kitten is a boy, try to find something that is pine or corn-based; clumping is best because you will be able to detect if he is urinating correctly. If the kitten refuses to use the litter box, cover it with soil. Gently pick him up and place him in the box when you notice him peeing or eliminating.

Put the kitten in a room with a box with a hole cut in it so he has somewhere to hide if he is wild or afraid. You can then put a sock on a stick to encourage him to come out and play, and you can rub his face and body with it. Place the litter box away from her food, water, and bed in a corner.

What should I do if I'm bitten by a stray kitten?

Slowly introduce the kitten to the rest of the house, one room at a time, if possible. I would start him in your bedroom and let him grow from there. Once he is no longer terrified of you, he can sleep with you in bed at night.

Give the cat a lot of love as she learns to trust you. If she allows it, hold her frequently. If you gently scruff a cat by gripping the skin behind her neck and shoulders and placing her face in the crook of your arm, she may respond. Then let go of your grip and gently touch her face and cheeks with your finger. Rather than forcing yourself on the kitten, it's best to let him approach you.

NEVER offer the kitten rope, yarn, or artificial mice with fur-covered bodies and plastic eyes. The kitten can either swallow the eyes or consume the plastic, both of which are potentially fatal.

Put food and water available for the kitten in a safe spot if you haven't yet secured him and brought him inside your home perfectly immobile several feet away, depending on how frantic he is. You can progressively reduce the distance until you are sitting just in front of the platter of food. Place your hand on the plate until he comes close enough to eat.

To avoid him spooking, you must remain perfectly immobile. Gently brush his cheek as he eats. You'll soon be able to stroke him down the back of his neck. Then gently but firmly scruff him, place him in the crook of your arm, and take him into the location you've prepared for him in your home.

The key is to keep your grip on her as you scruff her. Don't let go, even if she scratches or bites out of fear; you'll never get another chance. I rescued a kitten who was so terrified that she bit through my finger and clawed me, but I was able to bring her to safety because I didn't flee. She wouldn't stop purring as soon as she understood she was safe.

Get the kitten fixed when he's six months old. This is quite important. This will keep a male kitten from spraying and a female kitten from escaping and becoming pregnant.

Make the kitten an only-in-the-house cat. The kitten will be safe from predators and malevolent individuals as a result of this.

If possible, provide largely wet food when the kitten is a year and a half old. As a treat, dry food can be offered. Male cats can have urinary difficulties if they only eat dry food. Amazon's Uromaxx can assist you with this. However, if a cat is solely fed dry food, it can acquire diabetes.

I don't give vaccinations to my rescued cats because I lost one to cancer caused by immunizations. It's entirely up to you. If the kitten is kept indoors, the danger of illness exposure is limited.

Any animal thrives in a tranquil environment. If the kitten is scared, he may run away. Block off the area adjacent to and behind your refrigerator. Kittens like to hide in drawers from time to time. If you open a dresser drawer, be cautious since she can be sleeping within. Never allow your kitten to jump into a clothes dryer, and keep the kitten away from you while doing laundry. Place her in her room and shut the door till you're done.

Any cat will benefit from a pate (creamy) style diet of wet food. I've discovered that cats will ignore the meat in a gravy-based diet and simply lick the gravy off the plate. So, for them to receive the meat, I'll have to smash it and turn it into a paste.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your kitten. Thank you for saving her, God bless you. Please send me a note if you have any queries about his care.
